soukeník — štrpka Supported the First Edition of the Model Court

Law firm soukeník — štrpka was proud to support the Model Court, a unique educational project for more than seventy secondary school students from across Slovakia. During the three-day programme at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava, the students assumed the roles of judges, attorneys, and prosecutors, while developing their legal skills in both domestic and international court simulations.

Our law firm, soukeník — štrpka, was proud to support the unique Model Court project, organised by the youth civic association Iuvenum Iuris at the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava. This project, which combined theory with practice, provided more than seventy secondary school students from across Slovakia with a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the functioning of both the domestic and international legal systems.

We are convinced that practical education is essential to the development of future lawyers. The Model Court provided students with space to develop their skills in rhetoric, argumentation, and critical thinking. At the same time, it helped them better understand the principles of justice and the democratic values that are an inseparable part of the legal profession.

Over the course of three days, the students assumed various roles in court proceedings – from judges and attorneys to prosecutors. The model courts were divided into seven different chambers, including the European Court of Human Rights, the International Criminal Court, the Supreme Court of the United States, as well as Slovak courts – the District Court, the Specialised Court, the Constitutional Court of the Slovak Republic, and even a Historical Court.

The programme also included a discussion panel, during which a partner of our law firm, Lukáš Štefánik, introduced the students to the legal profession of an attorney and shared his practical experience. Over the course of the weekend, he also participated in the individual model courts, where he had the opportunity to observe talented young secondary school students in their argumentation and advocacy.

At law firm soukeník — štrpka, we have long supported the education and development of young lawyers. We believe that initiatives of this kind are essential for shaping a high-quality and professionally prepared generation of lawyers who will contribute to justice and the rule of law.

We look forward to future editions of the Model Court and would be pleased to continue contributing to them in the years ahead.
